The unusual stepped portals are the identifiers for Geiger’s Covered Bridge, east of the Lehigh County Game Preserve. It was built in 1860, possibly by the family of Jacob Geiger, who came to this country in the 1700s from Wurtenburg, Germany. A pipe to carry water pumped from the Jordan Creek to nearby farms and orchards once ran along the bridge. The bridge is 112 feet long, has a weight limit of 4 tons, a height limit of 9 feet-6 inches, and is owned by Lehigh County.
