South Perkasie Covered Bridge

This bridge is located in Lenape Park in Perkasie. It once crossed Pleasant Spring Creek, but was moved to the park in 1958. It is owned by the Perkasie Historical Society. Built by Bucks County in 1832 of pine and oak, it is 93 feet long and 15 feet wide. There is no vehicle access. The bridge uses Towne Lattice construction, patented by Ithiel Towne. It is narrow and not very strong. Any expansion of the bridge would have meant taking it apart and the county didn't want to do that, and so it was moved.
